Dear Parents,

I’m so delighted to welcome you to the Kids ‘R’ Kids RTP website! I’mLynn Rasmussen, and I am deeply grateful and privileged to be the owner of Kids ‘R’ Kids RTP, an award-winning, double platinum, and accredited preschool in Durham, North Carolina.

Are you considering childcare for your baby, toddler, or preschool-age child?

As a mother, I’ve been in your shoes.

It isn’t an easy decision.

For many parents, it boils down to “Are the owners of the school on site?”

In our case, I am here every single day.

We are so proud to be part of a larger Kids ‘R’ Kids family because it gives us access to cutting-edge curricula like Brainwaves, rigorous training for our staff, and technology assets like ABC Mouse and WatchMeGrow.

Even so, as a parent, I would not send my children to a preschool without committed and visionary leadership. So let me tell you about my journey and my philosophy, so you can evaluate if Kids ‘R’ Kids RTP is the right fit for your family.

The Journey To Owning a Preschool

I was a stay-at-home mother with three boys.  My house was the hub where all the children gathered and played. One day, my neighbors, Brooks and Julie Moye invited me to become a partner in the childcare business. As an interior designer, I did not understand why they would think I could run a preschool. They explained that though I did not have a preschool background, my management experience and love for children had prepared me well for the job. The Moyes and I partnered for many years and I’m grateful they saw my potential. Being a Kids ‘R’ Kids co-owner with the Moyes has been a truly rewarding experience.

The road to excellence has not been an easy one for us.  When we bought Kids ‘R’ Kids RTP seven years ago, we understood the challenges that lay ahead, we saw our goal very clearly: to provide a safe, nurturing, and academically-advanced preschool to the hard-working parents who work in Research Triangle Park, Raleigh, and Durham.

As a preschool based in the technologically-advanced RTP area, I also believe it is important to prepare the children in our school for the 21st Century.

Also, Kids R Kids Learning Academies is the first national early childhood education franchise to be granted District Accreditation from the AdvancED Accreditation Commission, the national commission that confers the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA/CASI, SACS/CAI and NWAC) accreditation seal.

As a  parent, I am inspired to operate a high-quality Five Star learning center. I am very proud to provide the most innovative facilities and effective educational programs for children 6 weeks through 12 years of age. My sincere love for children and strong belief that they should have a solid foundation, in combination with Kids ‘R’ Kids methodology gives our preschool graduates an advantage in kindergarten. They are prepared academically, socially, and emotionally for elementary school — and for life!

Our center is approximately 17,000 square feet with 11 classroom suites, a cafeteria, a resource room, a large activity gym for before and after school students, and 4 large play areas separated for age groups.

At Kids ‘R’ Kids RTP, we share a common desire with parents, which is to provide the absolute best for the children. Our high quality teachers, creative and fun educational programs and, of course, our state-of-the-art facility are some of the reasons why parents sign up right after they come in for a tour.

My mission every single day is to live up to the compliment we received from a grateful father as he dropped his daughter off to Kids ‘R’ Kids:

“Lynn, when I leave my precious child at Kids ‘R’ Kids RTP, I feel like I’m dropping her off with my sister. Yes, I want her to learn and grow academically. But you know why I drive away happy? Because I’m leaving her in the loving environment that feels like home.”

He added a piece of advice that I treasure to this day: “Never forget– the feeling that we are leaving our kids with family — that’s the true secret sauce at Kids ‘R’ Kids RTP.”

I love children and am dedicated to making our school a great success. My door is always open for parents to come and discuss their needs, ask questions, give suggestions, and comments. Please don’t hesitate to contact me!
